I am extending the test to Friday night at midnight since you have Thursday and Friday off. I will NOT accept anything after this though, and I've worked it out so we have an entire week of review. Here are the dates of classes left and who is covering what:

3/29 - South, East & Southeast Asia
3/30 - South, East & Southeast Asia
3/31 - South, East & Southeast Asia

4/1 - The Met Field Trip (Finish South, East and Southeast Asia on your own)
4/4 - West & Central Asia
4/5 - West & Central Asia
4/6 - West & Central Asia

4/8 - Africa
4/11 - Africa
4/12 - Africa

4/14 - Indigenous Americas (Mrs. V)
4/15 - Indigenous Americas
Finish Indigenous Americas on your own over April Break

4/25-4/29 REVIEW

You MUST have chapters in your book read before the beginning of the presentations on each of the sections above -- you should know the cultural context of what we are talking about for each of these non-western sections, this is VERY important. No more excuses. You can expect pop quizzes (at least 5) covering Global Contemporary and all of the non-western sections above.

At this point no one has taken the test. It is due by next Wednesday (March 23) and you will need 2 hours to do it... anyone who doesn't do it by this date will receive a 0. Please make sure you are aware and plan your test taking time appropriately. I will NOT be flexible on this everyone.

Modern Art:
There are many art movements.
 What’s happening? •
Europeans and Americans were optimistic that society would advance through the spread of democracy, capitalism, and technology
• Modern artists eagerly embraced new technologies in the creation of their work • New products and innovation = new art styles
• Political unrest and social upheaval didn’t prevent modern art from flourishing (WWI, WWII, Great Depression)
• Modern art was still mostly controversial and much criticized for being either a publicity stunt, childish, untrained, or politically subversive (most of these criticisms were false)
* Extremely cultured and intellectual avant-garde patrons support cutting-edge artists and help them flourish (Gertrude Stein)
• New – patronage of museums: museums hire fine architectural firms for expansion projects, museums become works of art, museums commission art from contemporary artists to be showcased in their public spaces
• Armory Show introduces modern art to America (not received well! Americans were horrified!) • Gallery 291 displays photos w/ art (photos = art!)
• Modern art becomes even more international (Mexico, Russia, etc.)
• Artists are outspoken – publish manifestos on their artistic beliefs

I'll post notes on specific works sometime on Sunday - I have to finish them, and I haven't had much time to work on them. This is why YOU all MUST have notes prepared for everyone, and if there are no notes --you should be taking them in class everyone.

I've been having trouble posting on weebly, and finally got it to work today. The following is what you need to have read in the book, and the AP content areas you should know at this point (BEFORE YOU START THE TEST!!!)

So far we have covered:
Content Areas: 1,2,3,4, & 9
Chapters: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22,27,29, & 30

The test will cover everything from content Areas 3 & 4 and corresponding chapters: 7,8,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22,29 & 30
I will be looking for main ideas, cultural ideas, thematic ideas, and major works. Identifications will ONLY be from your image set.

I will give you information on logging in and taking the test on Wednesday 3/9 in class. You will have 1 chance to take the test, and it will be timed. Make sure you are ready to take it when you start it because you cannot go back. All tests must be taken by Wednesday March 23th at Midnight.

hey everyone, I apologize that I wasn't there today. I went to school and came down with a stomach bug/ flu of some sort. I will be out tomorrow, but I want you to continue presenting. I hope to be back Wednesday! I'm extending the date for flash card completion until Monday and I'll have the test up by then as well-- I left several things at school and can't complete putting it together! :-/
See you all soon! PS don't get a stomach flu- it's terrible!!

Hi everyone,

Because of a personal situation, I will not be in tomorrow. I would like you to continue presenting and taking notes. I would like Hannah & Sam to begin presenting Later EU & Americas content. Anything that was NOT covered in our first group's presentation is YOUR individual responsibility to learn.

I will be posting your test by the end of next week, and that means you should have completed the chapters I listed last week on our blog. So if you've not finished that - GO READ!!!!

And don't forget to take the survey I posted below. Only 3 people have done it so far... its really an important thing for me to have your feedback.
