So I've secured a date and tour for the Met - Wednesday April 8th. Looks like we will be taking the train, so we will meet at the Milford train station at 7:30am and take the train into the city. We will then take the subway and walk to the MET. Our tour is at 1:30. I'm working out cost details, but you'll likely need to purchase your own train & subway tickets, and pay for the museum through mypaymentsplus. (details to follow). It will be roughly $60 per student (for train, subway and museum) and additional spending money for lunch and gift shop spending. More to follow! The topic of our tour is: The Human Figure: Students on this tour will look at a variety of art works depicting the human figure and explore how those depictions relate to the cultures that produce them. So we are ON for April 1, 2015 for MoMA. I've attached the permission slip below (click on it) and you need to pay on my payments plus ($24) which will open on Sunday. Permission Slip for MoMA I'd like you to take a closer look at El Greco's "View of Toledo" page on Khan Academy. There are some great comparisons (to Starry Night for example). Might be a strong example to use on the test.
View of Toledo - El Greco HI Everyone,
I'd like to aim for you all to take the Chapter 21 test on Tues or Wednesday of next week - so PLEASE READ THE CHAPTER COMPLETELY. I'll also be collecting your terms on Monday and checking your notes / flahscards for Ch. 21. The test is 25 multiple choice and 5 short answer. It will be paper format taken in class. Some of you have gotten very used to taking your time, but the AP exam is fast paced. From here on out - we will be taking your tests in 1 class period, so you can practice working at a quicker pace. The next chapter is Baroque and I'll be posting the flashcard list and homework early next week. Have a great weekend! AP Registration is open on My Payments Plus through March 15th - Please comment when you have signed up successfully. It is expected that ALL APAH students should take the APAH exam.
I'll collect your terms on Monday 2/23 and do a note check on Chapter 21.
HI Everyone,
I am so sorry I was out again last week - I managed to get a very bad ear infection (great luck right?). Anyway, I'll be in tomorrow and we will sort everything out for the next chapter - including flashcard lists, homework, notes etc. HOWEVER - Care, Cae and Linda you still need to take the last test on quizstar - please do so ASAP. I'll be printing them out tomorrow and grading them, and getting us all back on track... so lets make sure everyone is caught up. :) See you tomorrow! Mrs. V So here are the short answer questions:
1. The work is The School of Athens by Raphael. Analyze how both the subject matter and the style of the work reflect humanist interests during the High Renaissance. (10 Minutes) 2. The question is based on the following quotation. There are no slides with this question. " It is scarcely possible, even with hard work, to imitate what Michelangelo accomplished. This ceiling is a true beacon of our art, and it has brought such enlightenment in painting that it illuminated a world which for hundreds of years had been in the state of darkness." -Giorgio Vasari, Lives of the Most Eminent Painters, Sculptors, and Architects (1550, 1568) During what art-historical period did Michelangelo paint the ceiling mentioned in the question? How did the ceiling exemplify Vasari's claims about Michelangelo's accomplishments? (10 minutes) Multiple choice will be on the works listed on your flashcard list. |
